After the intro call, I book candidates for a 60 minutes behaviour and cultural session. For the most part this takes 30 minutes, but I have seen candidates needing the extra 15 to 20 minutes - the extra time has no significance in how the interview is going. I have roughly 3 to 4 main questions. Each one addresses the following areas:
- Passion about the work they do and the ability to work in a startup environment.
- Is able to hold their ground. Great products come from people with strong opinions that are able to collaborate with others.
- Are they coachable? They can get negative feedback and turn it into something positive.
There are further probing questions under the original questions. They tend to give enough information if the candidate is a good fit or not.
