Looking For a Role / Hiring for a Role

A number I saw on a Hacker News thread, is the ratio of people looking for a job, versus the number of companies hiring. Currently standing at 0.94, it means there are still more people hiring, versus looking for a job. But this number disproportionately shot from 0.23 (in 2022). It’s not a surprise, given three major events: 1) number of people wanting a remote job and now being called back to the office (RTO policies) 2) number of layoffs happening across the tech industry 3) The side-effect of 2) making existing companies quite bearish.

It’s a tough market if you are looking for a new gig.
