The lunatics are running the asylum

When this was posted in November my eyebrow was raised. Someone, with zero institutional knowledge about how Twitter works, was going to solve their problems. Any person with some professional experience in tech, understands how non-sense it is. This could work in a smaller, younger company. A place where the codebase is modern and not too big. Where an expert would come and the ramp-up would be minimal. Now imagine dropping that person in a codebase started in 2006. With years of accumulated legacy code, supporting 450 MAU. Touched daily by hundreds of engineers. Supporting edge-cases that no single person could conceive in their head alone. Picture that for a second.

So George Hotz in the meantime has resigned. Is this surprising? Of course it’s not.

The lunatics are running the asylum.
