Purpose of an EM

I have been thinking about what an Engineering Manager’s main purpose is. A famous piece discussing that is this one. But I find these “archetypes” too specific and when I could never fit any of those. To me an Engineering Manager has one purpose: to find opportunities across the organisation and their team and act as a multiplier. I feel this sentence encapsulates the essential without going into too many details. And the higher one is, the more emphasis there is on the word “find”.
